We seek a broad range of nonfiction, including interpretive essays and cultural criticisms up to 6000 words, but will only consider work that is previously unpublished (yes, even on blogs).
Simultaneous submissions are welcome, as long as we are informed, and your submission promptly withdrawn, upon acceptance elsewhere.
We will attempt to respond to all nonfiction submissions within three to six months, possibly sooner.
AUTHOR RIGHTS: If accepted, The Brooklyner is granted first North American serial, promotional, archival, and non-exclusive anthology (web and/or print) rights. Copyright reverts to the author upon publication. If the selected work is subsequently published in another venue, we ask that The Brooklyner be sourced as first publication.
NOTE: Unless you indicate otherwise in your cover letter, your submission will be considered for publication on the web – which may include feature in an online issue – and for publication in the print journal.
